My expectations for high school

My expectations for high school are that i get good grades. I will do that by turning in all of my homework and paying attention. By getting good grades i wanna get into a good college so thats another one of my expectations for high school.

What i want to get out of high school is that i learn new things that will help me throughout my life. Some of the things that i do in my classes i think to myself why are we doing this, this wont help me when i am older but i am hoping to learn that those stupid things that i think are dumb and have no point will help me when i am older.

The Road not taken

The road not taken by robert frost has many meanings. The one that stood out to me most was that sometimes when life hands you two decisions, you sometimes have to take a risk just so that you can experience new things in your life. When robert frost took the less traveled road, he was taking a risk and experiencing new things. " I took the one less traveled by" stanza 4 line 4.

This can relate to me the most because sometimes i take risky choice not knowing the outcome just so that i can experience new things. I wish i could experience both of the choices but as robert frost stated in his poem " I am sorry i could not travel both" stanza 1 line 2.

The movie

In the movie to kill a mockingbird, the specific scene that stood out to me was the trial. It was really exhilarating and it had a lot of emotion to it. That specific scene was just how i imagined it. This scene was probably my favorite part in the movie.

This scene was just how i imagined it. Mayella showed a lot of emotion and feelings toward Tom Robinson. It was shown just how it was explained in the book. Bob Ewell was very mean and weird like in the book. Tom Robinson looked very scared and worried that he was going to be guilty also like in the book. This movie was a great movie and it made me love the book even more.

This Book changed my Life

The Book to kill a mockingbird has changed my life in many ways. It has taught me that we should be grateful for what we have. We should also be grateful that we have a better lifestyle than they had back in the day. This has made me think of how lucky i am to have the things i have.

The racism back then was very disturbing. It has made me think of how glad i am that things have changed and that a black person now a days wont get killed just because he is black. This book has changed my ways in thinking that racism wasn't that bad back then. It has influenced me to spread the word and to tell people to be grateful because we dont know how good we have it.

Life lessons

Scout and Jem learn a lot of lessons in this book but the biggest one that they learned was that things cant always go their way. When scout and Jem wanted tom to win and just knew that he was going to win the trial it didn't work out and tom was guilty at the end and convicted. They learn that lesson a couple of times in this book. They learn that no matter what they say they cant change maycomb county into not being racist. Even though they are white they cant change the racist society.

Scout learns about how Tom got shot 17 times and he died because of their racist society. Atticus said to aunt alexandra "Toms dead" (235). Even though tom is a nice kind hearted man he got blamed for something he didnt do even though he didnt do it, the judge decides that he is black and that he is guilty because if his race. Scout learns that lesson that even though people are nice and dont do anything but try to help others, they get blamed for stupid things because of their race.

Extra Credit

Some of my reactions to this class is that we talk a lot about things and discuss more things and that is how i like things because it gets boring when you just write and write about things. I love to talk but sometimes when i get put on the spot i don't really know what to say and i loose my train of thought. That is one of my weaknesses that i need to work on. I have enjoyed these past few weeks in english and i actually like to kill a mocking bird which at first i thought i was going to hate it.

You have been a really good teacher and i am glad that i am fortunate enough to be in your class. You are a very understanding and have a very good teaching style that i am loving. I am escpecially having fun doing the activites for the vocab reviews. I am looking forward to having more fun the rest of the year reading books and writing stories and journals. I will try my absolute hardest to get a good grade in that class. Thanks for being an awesome teacher.

Themes

There are a lot of themes in the book To Kill a Mocking bird which is one of the themes because killing mocking birds is a crime and they don't do anything to hurt people or be a nuisance. This is reflecting on Dill and Tom Robinson. Dill didn't do anything to his family but try to love them. He knew in his heart that his parents didn't want him to live with them anymore which proves my point that he was innocent and didn't do anything wrong but got hurt because of his parents. Tom Robinson was accused of raping Ms. Mayella Ewell on November 21st '' On November 21st i was passin the Ewell place as usual and miss Mayella asked me to come help her for a minute"(192). The real story is that she came at him and tried to kiss him and all he was doing was trying to get away without hurting her and that reflects on the theme a lot that he didn't do anything and that he was just trying to help her with some of the things she needed him to fix.

The whole theme of the mocking bird goes along throughout the story because Boo Radley was accused of being crazy to when all he wanted was someone to talk to and someone to not think that he is a freak. When he Kept putting goodies in the knothole for jem and scout that showed that he was an all around good person and he wanted nothing but to have some friends. It also shows that he is innocent and when he stitched up Jems pants that shows that he was really nice and he wanted to help out jem. The greater meaning to all of these innocent characters are that they should be treated nicely and not be accused of rape, breaking up the family, or being a crazy man when no one knows what really happened and if they are bad people or not.

Atticus as a Father

I think that atticus is a very good father to scout and jem. Sometimes he can be strict when he makes Mrs. Dubose decide the punishment for jem when he ruined the flowers, or he can be cool about things like when scout discovered that she liked to swear. Atticus didn't do anything really about it but when uncle jack came for Christmas he did not like it at all. "I don't want to here any words like that while i am here" (79). This shows that his style is layed back and he just wants to have fun with his kids and wants them to not feel like they are in trouble all the time.

Atticus is a way different parent than my parents are now. My parents wouldn't let me swear when i was 7 years old like scout can. He is also different because my parents would have decided the punishment for ruining Mrs. Dubose's flowers and not let her decide. I think that it would be kind of cool to have atticus as a parent because he seems more layed back and not so protective like my parents are.

Changing perceptions of Boo Radley

In chapters 4-8 boo radley can be traced back to many mysterious occurences. Some of the things that could be traced back to him were jems pants being sewed up like a little kid had done them. That shows that Boo was trying to help jem so that he wouldnt get in trouble for lying to atticus. Also he made them a carving of themselves, gave them gum, and their biggest prize, a stopwatch that atticus said could be worth 10 dollars. This stuff shows that boo radley is not a scary man and that all he wants is to have some friends and to interact with people other than just staying in his house all day.

Scouts disscusion with Ms. Maudie adds to my perception that he is a nice person. When they were talking Ms. Maudie said that when her and Aurthur Radley were little he said nothing but nice things to her no matter what folks said he did. She also said that he spoke as nice as he knew how and that is pretty good considering that he was locked up in his house for most of his life. All in all, I think that boo radley is a very nice man and i think that he is doing very nice things for scout and jem for keeping them out of trouble and not letting them have the life that he had.
"He always spoke nice things about me no matter what folks said" pg 46

Boo Radley

My first impression of boo radley is that he was crazy. The rumors probably are true because he was locked up in a basement for 15 years. I dont know what i would have done if i had nothing to do for 15 years and no interaction with the outside world."He dined on raw squirrels and any cats that he could catch, that's why his hands were bloodstained".(pg. 13). Based on that quote that shows how crazy he is and that he is messed up because of his parents locking him up in their basement.

The one character that i think that i mostly relate to is scout. I am somewhat timid like jem but i am mostly just like scout because scout just goes with the flow. Also she just follows the group and does what everyone else does. When everyone told scout to go touch the house she did because she didnt want to seem like she was scared to do it and thats how i am.
